General Tao Tofu

Tofu Glazed with Sauce on Rice
30m vegan tofu rice

Ingredients

  • 1 Pack - Firm Tofu
  • 2 Cloves - Minced Garlic
  • 1 Tbsp - Minced Ginger
  • 2 Tbsp - Vegetable Oil
  • 12 Tbsp - Red Chili Flakes
  • 14 Cup - Cornstarch

For the Sauce

  • 3 Tbsp - Rice Vinegar
  • 3 Tbsp - Soy Sauce
  • 2 Tbsp - Hoisin Sauce
  • 14 Cup - Water
  • 3 Tbsp - Brown Sugar
  • 1 Tbsp - Cornstarch

Directions

  1. Cut tofu into cubes
  2. Toss tofu into a bowl of cornstarch and coat evenly
  3. Prepare sauce by combining rice vinegar, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, water, sugar & cornstarch
  4. Fry the tofu cubes until crispy
  5. Remove tofu from pan and remove all but 1 Tbsp of oil
  6. Place ginger, garlic and chili flakes in oil until fragrant
  7. Add back the tofu to mix then add the sauce
  8. Stir for ~1 min until sauce is thick
  9. Serve on top of rice
